QUOTE:"Do all things with love."
-Og Mandino
INSPIRATION:I would like to think that if we all did this that our world would be radically different.
It saddens me to think that most of goes on today is as a result of greed and selfishness.
So now I have to choose where I will put my energy – on all that is wrong or the possibility of making a difference by “doing all things with love” at least in my corner of the world. A light has to start somewhere and hopefully it will light up the darkness around it.

ACTION:It is now your turn to choose will you look at all that is wrong or will you choose to live a life that you do all things with love? It is always a choice and you always get to choose.

QUOTE:"Where there is love there is life."
-Mahatma Gandhi

INSPIRATION:The man who changed a nation by his life and the love he felt for his fellow man. India a very troubled land was his home and there in the midst of cruelty and distressing times, he felt that love would give life. A love that was not hinged on what someone would do for him but an unselfish love of his country gave him his life and all who followed him.

ACTION:If you are facing some challenges in your world – could adding love give you a life?
Love is an act of our will and the results are endless
Love is not a feeling but a choice to “Love in spite of”
You can choose love and you can choose life

QUOTE:"You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have truly lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love."
-Henry Drumm

INSPIRATION:I have just completed a workbook called “Create A Legacy” and in it I talk about sharing your life’s story. I think it is a great thing to at some point reflect on one’s life. I hope that when you do look back you will find those moments you lived were done in the spirit of love. Often we do things in our lives without being conscious of certain things. We fail to recognize these moments. I hope that where ever you are in your journey that you make a conscious effort to do things in the spirit of love.

ACTION:If you have not started to write your life story or are not sure where to begin you can visit our website www.cyb-createalegacy.com to order the workbook. It is a tool to help you work through the four pillars of leaving a legacy.
If you want to go it alone then take a few minutes every day and just start sharing memories of your life.

QUOTE:"Love builds bridges where there are none."
-R. H. Delaney

INSPIRATION:We live in a world that is in some ways blowing up bridges on all fronts and wondering why there is such pain and sorrow. It takes work to build a bridge. It takes time to build a bridge. It takes a plan to build a bridge. It is not always easy to build a bridge. It will cost you something to build a bridge. But unless a bridge is built a person cannot journey to the other side and who knows what joy and pleasures may reside on the other side.

ACTION:Where in your life do you need to build a bridge?
A bridge is not built in a day but today is a good day to start to build a bridge.

QUOTE:"Love takes off masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within."
-James Baldwin

INSPIRATION:What a very powerful statement about who we are. I often wonder when we put those masks on – what in our lives hurt us that we no longer felt we could be who we are but felt a need to hide. Some never take off their masks because of the fear of hurt and rejection. Some take off parts of the mask to see how the other person will react to what they see. Yet love real love – not “the I love you if” or “the I love you because” but the kind that says “I love you in spite of” is where there is a freedom to live without the masks.

ACTION:I can’t help you take off your mask because – I don’t know why you put it on in the first place and I can’t see who is in your world where it is safe to remove your mask but I can encourage you to find someone with whom you can. Living behind a mask is a lonely place to be. Please don’t let fear control your life – allow yourself to be the one who takes small steps if necessary to remove the mask but choose to live a life that is real.

Life-changing Choices WOW - 10/25

October: Habits - Journaling

"O God, early in the morning I cry to you.
Help me to pray and gather my thoughts to you, I cannot do it alone.
In me it is dark, but with you there is light;
I am lonely, but you do not desert me;
My courage fails me, but with you there is help;
I am restless, but with you there is peace;
in me there is bitterness, but with you there is patience;
I do not understand your ways, but you know the way for me.
Father in Heaven praise and thanks be to you for the night’s rest,
Praise and thanks be to you for the new day.
Praise and thanks be to you for all your loving-kindness and faithfulness in my past life.
You have shown me so much goodness; let me also accept what is hard to bear from your hand.
You will not lay a heavier burden on me than I can carry.
You make all things serve for the best for your children.
Lord, whatever this day brings, your name be praised."

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, [A prayer written in Tegel prison, Berlin]

INSPIRATION:
I started journaling while in college as an assignment that at the time I thought was pretty stupid, today I realize that it was what gave me my voice and my career. I love writing and just recently found a fabulous way that has really enhanced my time. I turn on a song (I use YouTube and I pick one of those relaxing melodies that last about 10 minutes) I then close my eyes and type. I usually have a question or something rattling around in my mind and I just ramble for 10 minutes. I call this my” journey to my soul” time. It is great as it allows me not to think on my conscious level but to allow my subconscious to speak through. Journaling has become my friend and confidante that has allowed me the freedom to express myself with no holds barred and freed me from hanging on to things that otherwise would have eaten away at me.

ACTION:
Make time 5 minutes a day.
Turn on some soft music.
Then just write – don’t worry about grammar, punctuation or content.

Life-changing Choices WOW - 10/18

October: Habits

QUOTE:
"Habit is a cable; we weave a thread each day, and at last we cannot break it."
Horace Mann

INSPIRATION:
Sad but true – each day we either make habits that are productive and make our lives a joy or we allow destructive habits control our lives which bring us pain and sadness in the long term. I watched several friends die of lung cancer but during their lifetime would not give up smoking. They had woven a cable that they found they could not break. The irony was towards the end they all did give up smoking but by then it was too late.

ACTION:
So what habits do you have right now in your life that you are weaving?

Many of our habits start off with small choices that done consistently over time soon control them.

Today look at the choices you are making and ask yourself if I continue to do this every day what will be the end result – what habit am I forming in my life.

Is it a habit I want to have the rest of my life?
Is this a habit that will bring me joy or sadness if I keep it?

Life-changing Choices WOW - 10/11

October: Habits

QUOTE:
"Habit and routine have an unbelievable power to waste and destroy."
Henri de Lubac, Paradoxes

INSPIRATION:
I think the reason I am attracted to this quote is that many fail to recognize the power that is attached to habit and routine. It can waste and destroy or it can be an asset and build it all depends on the habit and routine. There are three things you can do with your time, they are: invest it, spend it and waste it. When our routines/habits are non-productive or even destructive we waste our most precious gift – time. When we invest our time in good habits and routines the rewards are great. When we spend our time on habits that bring no rewards but immediate pleasures we have temporary gain but no long-term rewards. So again it always comes back to choice.

ACTION:
I would like you to take a sheet of paper and write out 3 columns – invest – spend and waste. Then take your habits and routines and categorize them into these three columns.

How are you feeling about what you are seeing? Which column seems to dominate your life?

Are you happy with that? Any changes needed?

Just remember time is the only commodity you can’t get any more of once you have used it up.

The good thing is you can change going forward. Pick one that needs to be replaced. If you need help contact us at www.crossingyourbridge.net and one of our counselors will work with you.

Creating Financial Prosperity on a Spirit-based Foundation

Creating Financial Prosperity on a Spirit-based Foundation

Do you get excited about what you are able to do each day? Do you make choices in your day based on your passions and living them fully?

Are you overwhelmed and wondering why you can’t seem to get excited about anything?

For myself, I’m always interested in looking for a more joy-filled, flowing, and heart-centered way to take charge of what I do in both my life and my business. That’s why I was intrigued by Katana Abbott and Marilyn Schwader’s new teleseminar on Thursday, October 14th, called “Awakening Your Purpose, Passion, and Prosperity”.

Katana built a million-dollar business as a Certified Financial Planner and now helps women in transition create and grow wealth by following their purpose and passion. Marilyn is Shamanic Practitioner who blends working with the knowledge of energy and the tool of writing to inspire her clients to create and market their transformational ideas.

Katana and Marilyn have combined their talents to help shine a light on building financial freedom on a foundation of spirit-based principles.

Check it out for yourself. These women bring a new perspective to spiritual wealth-building.

October: Habits

QUOTE:
"We first make our habits, and then our habits make us."
John Dryden

INSPIRATION:
It is said that it takes 21 days in a row to make a habit. Yet I see individuals take a lifetime to break a habit once it is part of their life. I think for many our habits are formed unconsciously and then when we realize it has already taken hold of us. For some us we have good habits that we are grateful for but there are times when we have some that has forged a chain around us and we seem helpless to change. I see people every day struggle with habits that are destructive yet they feel powerless to change.

ACTION:
I think the first step regarding a habit is to recognize it in our life.

Is it a good habit that I want to keep?

Is it a bad habit that needs to be replaced?

I always say bad habits need to be replaced not lost as our mind when we say “lost” has a tendency to want to find it again. That’s why losing weight never works but eliminating now that says it’s gone. So if we replace a bad habit with a good one then there is no place for the old one to come back. If you just try to get rid of a bad habit it creates a vacuum in our life and as nature abhors a vacuum it is only a matter of time before the habit comes back.

Life-changing Choices WOW - 9/27

September: Communication

QUOTE:
"You must train your intuition -- you must trust the small voice inside you, which tells you exactly what to say, what to decide."
Ingrid Bergman

INSPIRATION:
This is very powerful yet very controversial – many feel that we should only go by facts and others are strictly intuition. I have a program that has worked for me and is very effective.

There are 3 components to this program and all three must be operational for me to move on. It is as if there were 3 lights and each of them has to be green to move to the next level.

These lights do not have to appear in any particular order they just all have to be green.

Light number 1 is my circumstances regarding this issue
Light number 2 is my intuition
Light number 3 is does it line up with what I know is truth

Here is an example of this program in action:
I want to go to Colorado and there develops some circumstances that would warrant me going, - green light.

I feel that my going to Colorado would be a good move and besides I love the mountains – green light.

I have been given words of wisdom that confirmed that a new location would be a good move – green light.

ACTION:
What are you facing that you feel in your gut you need to move on?

Have you listened before and has it guided you correctly?

Were there times when the still small voice told you to do something and you choose not to only to find out that you should have?

There are two components to your intuition – listening and then doing – both are important.

Once you start testing your intuition you will become more aware of the small voice and trust that your actions are guided.

September: Communication

QUOTE:
"Loneliness is never more cruel than when it is felt in close propinquity with someone who has ceased to communicate."
Germaine Greer, The Female Eunuch [1971], "Security"

INSPIRATION:
I have found this to be profoundly true. I have been in relationships where the person when angry has ceased to speak. I came from a screaming family that got all the anger and bitterness out in angry words so I was not ready when someone would get angry to pull away and choose not to speak to me. I wanted to go over to them and just smack them. I had to deal with why did it bother me so. I think for me it was the not knowing what was happening and also the fact that it bothered me I realized that they had power over me to make me feel bad. When I discovered that I knew I had just uncovered a powerful key in my world. I was choosing for this person to control my emotions. I immediately decided that if they wanted to act stupid that was their right but I was going to not allow their stupidity to control me. That decision freed me from this entire insane game we were playing. My choosing to move on gave me the freedom to enjoy my life and to seek others to enjoy it with me.

ACTION:
1. Look at any relationships that you have currently that are toxic when it comes to anger issues
2. Determine that no one can take your power to determine your emotions
3. If you have given it to someone – take it back
4. Find things that bring you joy and allow anyone stuck on stupid to be there alone

Life-changing Choices WOW - 9/13

September: Communication

QUOTE:
"Self-expression must pass into communication for its fulfillment."
Pearl Buck, The Writer's Book

INSPIRATION:
I think the thing that this communicates to me is you have to be part of the communication for it to really reach another person. They say if you communicate with your head you read someone’s mind. If you communicate with your heart you reach their heart. I think to be effective you have to do both. When you share not only your knowledge but your passion and your heart you not only feel fulfilled I feel that your listener feels validated and fulfilled.

ACTION:
1. When you think of the people you engage in conversation with do you find yourself talking from your heart or your head or both?
2. Are there people who you currently talk from one side that maybe you would like to expand to one of the other areas?
3. What is keeping you from fully interacting with them on all levels?
4. The next time you talk to this person change it up a bit and see what happens. Ask them for feedback how did they feel about this conversation. Tell them you are doing it for a test you are taking on communication. It could be a real eye opener. I would love to hear how it went you can reach me at Meredith@crossingyourbridge.net

Life-changing Choices WOW - 9/6

September: Communication

QUOTE:
"It is not so much the content of what one says as the way in which one says it. However important the thing you say, what's the good of it if not heard or, being heard, not felt."
Sylvia Ashton-Warner

INSPIRATION:
I found out that there are 7 levels of communication.
Level 1: What I say
Level 2: How I say it
Level 3: What I mean by what I say,
Level 4: What someone hears
Level 5: What they think I said
Level 6: What they think I meant when I said it
Level 7: My body language while I am saying it

At any of those levels there can be a breakdown a miscommunication that can cause challenges. All that to say is that to be felt takes into consideration many factors.

ACTION:
1. Have you ever considered all these things when speaking – I dare say for the most part we don’t because if we did we probably would never speak.
2. So why is it important well because often communication breaks down or you want to communicate something very important then looking at all these levels can help see where there may be areas of improvement.
a. There are some great techniques in communication and of them is getting feedback from your listener.
i. When you are talking ask them what do you think I said,
ii. how did you feel when I said it?
iii. Did my body language convey the same message?
iv. This is a great dialogue tool to help when it seems there is always miscommunications and you find yourself saying things like you never listen to me or I can’t seem to get through to you.

August: Finding Joy

QUOTE:
"Laughter is an instant vacation."
Milton Berle

INSPIRATION:
I think that is so true. I remember getting jokes from my email buddies or going to a comedy for that brief moment in time nothing mattered. It was like someone turned on a light switch and everything that may have been bothering me were shelved for that time being. I am not sure how all this works but I do know that I love comedies and I enjoy the jokes that are being sent. It is nice to know that something that is free can be so good and fun.

ACTION:
When was the last time you took a laughter vacation?
Rent a comedy this weekend
Read some jokes on line
Go to a comedy club
Read the funnies
Do something that will make you laugh

August: Finding Joy

QUOTE:
"You can turn painful situations around through laughter. If you can find humor in anything - even poverty - you can survive it."
Bill Cosby

INSPIRATION:
What a true statement – humor and laughter can make any situation bearable. It seems that some of the greatest challenges were lifted once there was laughter for in that brief moment the pain was lifted and there came a ray of sunshine into the darkness of that place. I know for many that in these painful situations some feel that it is almost sacrilegious to find humor but it is especially at those times that it is needed. Allowing someone to take a brief flight from the pain of the situation may be all they need to be able to make it through. I remember a movie a long time ago called Patch Adams it was about a doctor that used humor to cheer up kids with cancer. It was a fabulous movie about the power of humor in a very painful place.

ACTION:
When was the last time you were in a painful place and someone came to your side with some humor? Can you have the courage to do that for someone else?

Life-changing Choices WOW - 8/21

QUOTE:
“The joy that isn't shared dies young."
Anne Sexton

INSPIRATION:
I see that as such a sad statement. It is almost like a life that never had the opportunity to live. There is so much in our life that happens by choice. Someone had to choose not the share their joy and as a result it dies. I think there are many people who because fear or pain have chosen not to share their joy and as a result they are walking dead. How sad it is that because of their choice there is loss not only to them but also to all who come in contact with them.

ACTION:
What are you doing today to share your joy?

Dare to Prosper - Finale

Well if you have kept with me you will have started an amazing journey of taking control and regaining the power to live an amazing life. Now comes the final piece and the one that most people either don’t know about or will give me the most grief about why they can’t do it. They will give me all the reasons that this makes no sense and they can’t and my response to you is this is the only one that if you fail to do will definitely not get you your desires. This step alone is not the cure all but when used with the other 9 steps definitely works magic. This law of the universe is one that is so amazing that once you activate it revolutionizes the other 9 steps.

Step 10 the magic of 10; you give 10% of your income away to person or place that empowers you (church, ministry, speaker). This key is really simple – whatever you get in income you give 10% away. You may have different places you can give to but they are not the magic. The places you give are considered the soil that you plant your seed in, and you want to plant in places that have helped you grow as a person. The magic is that you give. You give expecting to see returns. Just like if you planted a seed you would expect to see some kind of harvest, well this law is no different. You plant 10% and you expect to see a return. Just like gravity it doesn’t matter what your religious persuasion because this is a universal law not a denominational law. I know that some churches teach this concept but the law is the law. Anyone who applies the law will reap its benefits.

I can hear you now but I can’t afford to make payments now how do you expect me to give 10% away. If you are struggling then it is even more important that you give your 10% because you are putting yourself in position to get more. If what you have isn’t enough wouldn’t it be nice if you could get more. Part of the thinking that you have to get over is that by giving you are not diminishing what you have instead see it as an opportunity to increase what you have by planting a seed that will reap you a harvest.

I challenge you to just do it and then see what happens. This step is the only one that I have seen over and over again do amazing things for the giver. It also will become a way of life when you realize that the greater my need the more that I need to get into the habit of giving my 10% on a regular basis. The thing of about this law is you are already giving 10% but maybe not realizing it. You see this law of the universe has a downside and that is if you don’t give of your own it will be taken from you in other ways (disasters, car problems, health issues, unemployment) You see just like the law of gravity it is very unforgiving when we do not adhere to it.

Laws of the Universe are just that – they don’t care who you are or what you believe – they work just the same. So now that you know what those laws are you can use them to create an amazing life or you could choose to ignore the laws and live lives of quiet desperation and constantly ask yourself why is this happening to me? You get to choose! So choose wisely.

Thank you!

Dare to Prosper - Part IX

Step 9

Expect it to happen!

This step always surprises me as to its power and one that I truly enjoy implementing in my life. It also amazes me how few people actually put this one into practice. It is almost if there is an element of doubt still lurking in the recesses of their mind that somehow tells them that they can’t have what it is they really want. This could be embedded lies that are preventing them by telling them that they may not be worthy or people like them don’t get what they really want. It could be years of failure that has become a self-fulfilling prophecy as to bad things happening to them. They may have conversations in their head that rob them of their destiny and support their belief that good things won’t come to them or if they do they are tied to bad things as a result. It truly is amazing that in so many cases we are our own worse enemy and the thoughts that we think.

So today I want you to prepare for what ever it is you are desiring.
For example if you want a new home: go by new towels or some thing that you would want just for your new home. If you want to have a baby – go out an buy a cute maternity top. It doesn’t have to be big or expensive it is only a token of what you are expecting to have in our life. If you want to go to some exotic place – buy something you will wear when you get there. The whole point of this step is to do one proactive thing to solidify in your mind that what it is you desire you will get. One of mine was I wanted to live in the mountains and go hiking so I bought hiking poles while I was still living in Illinois. I looked kind of funny walking the streets of Bolingbrook with my poles but today I live on a mountain and I hike almost every day and truly my poles come in handy. When I wanted to go to Alaska I got a key chain and whenever I opened a door I reminded myself that I would one day go to Alaska and I did. Right now I have a little wooden lawn chair sitting on a book shelf because my next desire is to have a cabin in the woods with a wrap around porch with great views of the mountains. So it doesn’t matter what it is but that you have some tangible thing that you can see and touch and be reminded that one day your desire will be yours.

Dare to Prosper - Part VIII

I think one of the greatest laws of the universe is this next step. It amazes me as to how few people understand its power and use it for their good, instead use it to destroy themselves and those around them.

What I love about all these steps is no matter how old or young you are – no matter what your life has been to this point you have the power to change your future. Step 8 is all about power – your power. Daily speak your affirmations of prosperity (all that is what is it you want!)

Determine that words of your mouth will decide your future!

A. The words of your mouth have gotten you to this point and it will get you to your future.
B. What are you saying?
C. What ever you focus on grows
1. Do you focus on what you don’t have or what you do have?
2. Do you focus on need or abundance
D. Your vision is in direct proportion to the words you are speaking
1. Are you speaking life or death
2. Prosperity or poverty
3. Health or illness

You have the power to speak your future into existence. You already are doing it by default and the life you have today is as a result of what you have been speaking.
Your assignment is to speak what you want it to be not what it is right now.

Dare to Prosper - Part VII

This step is really a bit of a mind trick. I have been told that the mind does not separate what is real and what we imagine to be real. I have always thought that was interesting. Here is a simple trick to test this – think of something that you are really afraid of and imagine you are in a room with that thing or doing that thing. You will find your heart racing and your body has all of sudden changed physically. I find some people can actually break out into a cold sweat. Yet the event has not happened the item it not in the room with them but their imagination created the physical response in their body.

Step 7 is all about using that power to get what it is you want and that is to Mentally picture what it is you want as already yours.

Power of Imagination is amazing and so few people have tapped into it for their good. Most people instead use their imagination to imagine all the negative things that could happen to them. What a wasted use of such great power. So it is not a matter of using the power it is a matter of using it for creating your future.

Assignment: Spend time daily literally meditating on what it is you want your world to look like. In fact, every time you find yourself worrying, or contemplating on the negatives of your life. Grab that thought and replace it with your Clear Concise Mental Picture of what it is you want. It may not be easy initially but as you continue to take your thoughts under control you will find that it works wonders in your world.

Dare to Prosper - Part VI

We have all heard the expression “no pain – no gain” when we are shooting for some specific goal, whether it is getting fit or going for the gold at an Olympic event. Well in life it really is no different. If you read the biographies of great people you will find out that they all paid a price for their lives. Yet in that price was the greatest gift because it made them the people they are today. Someone once said you first have to be a millionaire in your mind and who you are before you can have the million dollars. Too often people who have won the lottery and instantly were millionaires lost all of it in a very short period of time all because they were not millionaires but poor people who happen to have a million dollars. So Step 6 is all about recognizing and determining what price are you willing to pay? This price may mean sacrifice, it may mean discipline it may mean changing certain habits or behaviors. On this side of the equation you still have to be an active participant in this program. There are no free rides, no magic genie that will grant you 3 wishes, and no white knight who will rescue you. This is all about how bad do you want it. Is this really a passion to live a better life or are you so comfortable in your current situation that even though you are living your dream life what you have is not so bad that you are willing to change. Being comfortable is the greatest challenge to one’s ideal life because you are not unhappy in it and there is not enough “why” to make you want to change. I hope that this is not you because you are among what I call the “quiet dead” not really alive but not dead. You are the ones that one-day wake up and say where has my life gone and is that all there is. You, my friend, are the ones who look at your past life and say things like “if only” or “why didn’t I” and have a mountain of regrets or blame. It doesn’t have to be that way so whether you are 30, 50 or 80 it is not to late to take control and live an amazing life, just realize there is a price to pay. But also realize that the price to pay is ounces to the price of regret that weighs tons.

Dare to Prosper - Part V

Okay so now your walls are filled with treasure books and wheel of fortunes but nothing is happening, what is wrong with this picture. Well, the first thing is you are only half way to getting the whole picture. It is like building a structure there are many moving parts and all of them are needed for the completed project.
Quick question are you still doing step 2 – being grateful? I hope that by now this is part of a life long habit for you. This step 2 along with steps 8 and 10 are the glue that holds this whole process together.

Each step is crucial but just like building a structure there are some things that are the bricks and others are the mortar. Each component is important and in some ways all are equal but I don’t care how great the bricks are if there is no mortar to hold it in place all you have are a ton of bricks.

Which is what is your plan? Here is where you explore the specific steps of action along with what are the obstacles you will need to overcome and finally what are the time lines to accomplishing your dream.

Now that you have determined your final destination of what it is you desire. Work your way backwards. What do you need to do to get there? Identify every component needed to reach your desire. Now list every obstacle for each of those components. Next list 3 things you can do to overcome the obstacle. Now determine to tackle one of those obstacles with a definite time frame. Once you accomplished this move on to the next obstacle.

Rome was not built in a day – the life you have today took many years to get to this point. So your future may take you some time but the nice thing is everyday you are moving to your ideal life – one that is filled with the desires of your heart.

Dare to Prosper - Part IV

Congratulations, now that you know exactly what it is you want, you have placed yourself in the 5% of the elite in this world. 95% of the population has no clue as to what it is they really want. They operate on living lives by default instead of by intention and wonder why life is not all its cracked up to be. They have chosen by not choosing to allow life to happen and not taking control of their future.

Step 4... Write it down!

Write it with all the descriptive adjectives you need to create a word picture that you can fix your mind and your future on.

I also recommend using pictures as advancement to your Clear Concise Mental Picture. One note when you do a “treasure map” of your desires make sure that you place you and anyone else you want to be a part of this final outcome. You can create several different treasure maps for each area of your life: future, family, finances, fun, career, health, and personal growth. You can create a “wheel of fortune” where you divide the wheel into 4 to 8 spokes and each area indicate what it is you want to see accomplished.

It doesn’t matter which you use but I have found combining both the written and the pictorial is an amazing combination and have found that my results come much faster utilizing both mediums.

Dare to Prosper - Part III

Hopefully you have been doing Step 2 and being grateful and already seeing some things changing for the better in your life and your finances.

The next step is where you “dare to dream.” This is where you ask yourself the following question... If I could do anything, have anything and be anything and I knew I could not fail and money, education, age, sex, race or anything else were not an issue what is it that I really want?

This is not a simple question or one that you want to be flip about but take some serious time and list everything that comes to mind. Please don’t filter anything but just list them. Do this every day for a week and see what keeps coming out to you. Is there a theme? Do you find yourself saying the same thing over and over again?

Now Step 3 is about getting definite about what it is you want. In the book by Napoleon Hill, "Think and Grow Rich", he talks about having a CCMP (clear concise mental picture of the thing that you want). Most people have not because they really have never figured out what exactly it is they want.

So your assignment this week is all about defining exactly what it means to be prosperous to you. The more specific and exact your definition the more you will be able to manifest it in your life. It is like going on a journey if you say you are going to Africa that is pretty generic, but if you are saying you are going to Nairobi and staying at the Hilton and you are going in January of 2011, now you are being specific. Do this for your definition of prosperity. Add as many details as possible to give you a Clear Concise Mental Picture of the thing that you want.
Assignment: Define prosperity for you – get specific

Dare to Prosper - Part II

If you did Step 1 and created a vacuum then you are ready to receive the next step!

It is a very simple step but one that will take some discipline on your part.

Step 2
Develop an attitude of gratitude!

Mental – fill your mind with becoming grateful.

This step is all about making a conscious effort to focus on the good that is around you as opposed to all the negative things. We are inundated with negatives with the news and most conversations that most people have. So this step is one that you choose to focus on the good around you and recognize it. This recognition may take the form of writing it down on a daily basis or it may be creating a grateful tree on your fridge where you place sticky notes of the things you are grateful for or it can be as simple as just saying thank you every time you find something to be grateful for.

I recently received a great email where a teacher had asked her class to list the 7 wonders of the world. All the kids ranked the pyramids of Egypt, Taj Mahal, Grand Canyon, Panama Canal, Great Wall of China, St. Peter’s Basilica of Rome and Empire State Building. But there was one girl who listed the 7 Wonders of the World as: to see, to hear, to speak, to touch, to feel, to love, and to laugh. Those really are the wonders that most of us get to experience every day yet how often do we fail to see them.

We grouse about red lights and traffic and fail to realize that most of the world does not own cars and have to walk miles and would consider themselves blessed to deal with what we have.

So today and for the rest of your life choose to be grateful. Not only will it make you a better person to be around it will make your world a better place because you will see it as the wonderful place it really is. Besides your prosperity is directly proportional to your grateful spirit. The more grateful you become the more prosperous you will become.

Dare to Prosper

It seems every where I go I hear people telling me how bad everything is and why they are not prospering. The strange thing is there are people out there right now that are prospering so what is the difference. Over the next couple of weeks I am going to talk about "10 keys" that I feel can make the difference between struggling and being successful and prospering.

Do you believe in gravity?

What if you didn’t believe but walked off the top of a building? Gravity doesn’t care if you believe or not because it is a law of the universe that if you obey it works for you and if you don’t well there are consequences.

What I am about to share are laws of the universe that if applied will bring you success and prosperity if you fail to use these laws you will continue to struggle and wonder why.

Step 1 "Create a vacuum"

- Mental: Get rid of grudges, worry, and fear
- Physical: Make sure your surroundings are filled only with things you love and make you feel special. Everything else is stealing from you and draining you of your energy
- Relationships: Why are the people in your life – are you happy that they are there Do you have toxic relationships that are draining you?

So for the next week work on creating a vacuum in your life. Because nature abhors a vacuum you are setting yourself up for the next step.

Prep work!

Prepping for Finding Your Passion presentation at Weir Capital Connections on Monday, April 19th. :)

ethcs and snow

Well there is about 8 inches of snow outside my window and they are predicting another 6" to 8" by tonight. I am grateful for a warm house, hot cup of tea and warm sleepers.
So what's all this got to do with ethics. Well ethics is all about doing the right thing all the time even when no one is watching. When I see snow covering the mountain and everything in its path and and marvel at how beautiful it looks. I fail to see that under that snow might lurk things that can harm and be dangerous. And so it is with our ethics. There are things we can do to cover up and make it look good but once the snow is melted then what was once hidden is exposed. Everyday we get to make choices about what we should or should not do. Often we are in a position where our decisions can lay hidden under snow and for the time being look really good, but spring will come and the snow will melt and the things that we chose to hide will once again be exposed. So my thought for the day is "Do the things that if they broadcast your actions on a screen you would be proud of" and if you live your life like that Spring will be a great season in your life!

March madness

March is one of those amazing months that sort of epitomizes life. One day everything is beautiful and the next day you could be hit with a snowstorm that disrupts everything. Right now in my life I am learning how to see the positives in every negative and the negatives in every positive. It is an interesting course. It's a premise that we attract everything in our lives. There are no accidents, everything is a magnet to us. So today I am learning why certain things show up in my life and what about me is attracting these things. Will keep you posted!

Am I home at last?

I have been going to various sites to determine which is the best place for me to blog. So many choices and each has various benefits. I would love to have one place I can call home and let my voice be known. Just like home you want it to have that welcoming feel for any who visit. You also want it to be that place where your guests can feel like you are there for them.
Life has so many twists and turns it is comforting to have a place where it feels like home and all who visit feel welcome.
I think I am home at last!
